Job Summary: The Heavy Duty Truck & Equipment Mechanic is responsible for the maintenance, repair, and troubleshooting of heavy-duty trucks and equipment. This role requires a high level of technical skill, physical stamina, and attention to detail to ensure the safety and reliability of all vehicles and machinery.

Key Responsibilities:

1. Diagnostics and Troubleshooting:

   • Identify mechanical, electrical, and hydraulic issues using diagnostic tools and software.
   • Perform comprehensive inspections to determine the root cause of problems.
   • Develop effective repair plans and execute them efficiently.

2. Maintenance and Repair:

   • Conduct routine maintenance tasks such as oil changes, tire rotations, brake inspections, and fluid checks.
   • Repair or replace damaged or worn parts, including engines, transmissions, and other critical components.
   • Ensure all vehicles and equipment meet safety and performance standards.

3. Record Keeping and Compliance:

   • Maintain detailed records of inspections, maintenance, and repairs.
   • Ensure compliance with industry regulations and safety standards.
   • Prepare reports and documentation as required.

Physical Requirements:

• Ability to lift and carry heavy tools and parts (often over 50 pounds).
• Stamina to work long hours, sometimes in uncomfortable positions, and perform repetitive tasks.
• Flexibility to bend, kneel, squat, and crawl into tight spaces.
• Good vision and hearing for detecting mechanical issues and reading technical manuals.

1. Technical and Mechanical Skills:

   • Proficiency in using hand and power tools, diagnostic equipment, and specialized machinery.
   • Strong understanding of mechanical, electrical, and hydraulic systems.

Education and Experience:

• High school diploma or equivalent; technical training or certification preferred.
• Proven experience as a mechanic for heavy-duty trucks and equipment.
• Familiarity with computer systems and diagnostic software.

Work Environment:

• Exposure to various environmental conditions, including extreme temperatures, noise, and potentially hazardous situations.
• Use of personal protective equipment (PPE) such as gloves, safety glasses, and ear protection.
