Manual Machinist

Pay: $20.00-$24.00 per hour

Job Overview

We are seeking a skilled Manual Machinist to join a manufacturing team responsible for producing high-quality machined components. This position requires hands-on experience with conventional machining equipment, precision measuring instruments, and machine shop practices. The ideal candidate will have strong attention to detail, experience working to close tolerances, and the ability to interpret blueprints, specifications, and work orders to ensure quality production.

Key Responsibilities

• Read and interpret work orders, specifications, blueprints, sketches, and technical drawings.
• Measure and verify tolerances throughout production, upon completion, and before parts are released to quality control.
• Operate conventional machining equipment, including lathes, drill presses, milling machines, grinders, polishers, and other machine shop equipment.
• Perform machining operations on metallic and non-metallic materials while maintaining required specifications and tolerances.
• Conduct daily and scheduled maintenance on machinery and equipment as needed.
• Operate CNC equipment when required to support production goals.
• Utilize shop mathematics, tooling, fixtures, and accepted machining practices to complete jobs efficiently and accurately.
• Inspect completed work using precision measuring tools to verify compliance with specifications.
• Assist team members and perform additional duties as assigned.

Qualifications

• Minimum of two years of manual machining experience.
• Experience operating conventional lathes, drill presses, milling machines, grinders, and polishers.
• Proficiency with precision measuring instruments and inspection tools.
• Experience using hand tools in a manufacturing environment.
• Ability to work from blueprints, drawings, and technical specifications.
• Strong attention to detail and problem-solving skills.

Education Requirements

• High School Diploma or GED required.
• Vocational Technical High School preferred.
• Technical School Graduate preferred.
• Machinist Certificate or formal machining training preferred.

Physical Requirements

• Ability to stand and walk for extended periods.
• Ability to lift, carry, push, and pull up to 50 lbs.
• Frequent use of hands and arms to operate machinery and hand tools.
• Ability to bend, stoop, reach, and perform repetitive motions throughout the shift.

Work Environment

• Industrial manufacturing and machine shop environment.
• Required use of personal protective equipment (PPE) while working on the shop floor.

• Steel-toe work boots
• Hearing protection
• Cut-resistant gloves as needed
• Appropriate shop attire and PPE
