GIS Specialist – Part-Time (Remote, Select States)

Located in Maynard, MA

Salary: $33-$43/hr DOE

We are seeking a part-time GIS Specialist for a consulting firm based in Maynard, MA. The GIS Specialist will work with an established team to develop maps and graphics, perform spatial analysis, and maintain GIS databases. This is a remote opportunity with the potential to increase to full-time hours and transition into a permanent position.

Applicants must reside in one of the following states: MA, ME, CT, RI, NH, NY, MD, VA, or FL.

 

Responsibilities:

• Create and update maps using Esri ArcGIS Pro.
• Perform spatial analysis and manipulate geographic data.
• Maintain and update internal GIS databases.
• Develop maps, graphics, and visual materials for reports, regulatory filings, and project presentations.
• Work with geographic file structures, coordinate systems, and database standards.
• Collaborate with project managers and technical teams to meet deadlines.
• Manage multiple projects while maintaining accuracy and attention to detail.

Required Qualifications

• 2–5 years of professional GIS experience.
• Proficiency with Esri ArcGIS Pro.
• Knowledge of spatial analysis, cartography, coordinate systems, and GIS databases.
• Experience creating maps and managing geographic data.

Preferred Qualifications

• Experience in environmental consulting, engineering, or related industries.
• Experience with ArcGIS Online and ArcGIS Desktop.
• AutoCAD experience, particularly GIS integration.
• Python scripting experience.
• Familiarity with Survey123, Field Maps, Collector, or Trimble GPS equipment.
• Experience with 3D visualization and technical graphics.

Schedule and Employment Details

• Approximately 25–30 hours per week initially.
• Potential to increase to 40 hours per week.
• Fully remote within the eligible states listed above.
• Must be available during regular Eastern Time business hours.
• Potential for permanent employment based on sustained workload and performance.
