Dimensional Quality Engineer

A growing manufacturer is seeking a Dimensional Quality Engineer to support product quality, measurement systems, and continuous improvement initiatives. This role is ideal for an engineering professional with strong experience in PolyWorks, GD&T, CMM inspection, and dimensional analysis who enjoys working cross-functionally to ensure products meet the highest quality standards.

Key Responsibilities

Product Validation & Dimensional Analysis

• Interpret customer requirements and engineering specifications related to Geometric Dimensioning & Tolerancing (GD&T).
• Define and apply GD&T requirements to engineering drawings and production inspection plans.
• Develop and maintain PolyWorks Inspector scan programs and dimensional inspection files.
• Generate dimensional layouts for components and assemblies.
• Perform process capability and process potential studies to support product launches and ongoing production.
• Analyze dimensional measurement data and identify opportunities for quality and process improvements.
• Support troubleshooting efforts related to dimensional concerns, product quality, and manufacturing variation.

Quality Engineering & Gage Development

• Develop comprehensive gage plans and inspection strategies.
• Design, source, validate, and implement gaging solutions to support manufacturing operations.
• Coordinate calibration and validation activities for measurement equipment and gages.
• Partner with Engineering, Manufacturing, and Quality teams to ensure measurement systems meet customer and internal requirements.
• Review and improve quality procedures associated with dimensional layouts, capability studies, and inspection processes.
• Drive continuous improvement initiatives related to metrology, quality systems, and process efficiency.

Metrology Lab Leadership

• Support the daily operation and prioritization of activities within the Metrology Lab.
• Review measurement results and work performed by Metrology Technicians to ensure accuracy and compliance.
• Provide technical guidance on GD&T interpretation, dimensional inspection methods, and measurement equipment usage.
• Assist in resolving measurement system and equipment-related issues.
• Ensure timely completion of gage certifications, validations, and inspections to meet customer and production timelines.

Qualifications

Required

• Bachelor's degree in Engineering or a related technical field preferred.
• Minimum of 3 years of experience in metrology, quality engineering, gage design, dimensional engineering, or a related discipline with a relevant degree, or 8+ years of directly related experience.
• Minimum 3 years of hands-on experience with PolyWorks Inspector.
• Strong knowledge and practical application of GD&T principles.
• Experience working with Coordinate Measuring Machines (CMMs).
• Ability to interpret engineering drawings, specifications, and tolerance requirements.
• Strong analytical, troubleshooting, and problem-solving skills.
• Excellent communication and collaboration skills.
• Highly detail-oriented with a commitment to accuracy and quality.
