Position Summary

The Cold Storage Facility Supervisor is responsible for overseeing daily warehouse operations within a temperature-controlled environment. This position ensures the safe, efficient, and accurate handling of refrigerated and frozen products while maintaining compliance with customer requirements, company policies, food safety standards, and OSHA regulations. The supervisor leads warehouse personnel, monitors productivity, manages inventory accuracy, and ensures all operations are completed safely and on schedule.

Essential Duties and Responsibilities

• Supervise and direct daily warehouse activities, including receiving, storage, order selection, loading, and shipping.
• Lead, coach, and develop warehouse associates, forklift operators, and lumpers to achieve operational goals.
• Ensure compliance with all food safety programs, sanitation standards, and company operating procedures.
• Monitor employee productivity and provide performance feedback, coaching, and disciplinary action when necessary.
• Schedule labor requirements to meet customer demands while controlling operating costs.
• Conduct pre-shift meetings and communicate safety, productivity, and quality expectations.
• Maintain inventory accuracy through cycle counts, audits, and proper inventory management practices.
• Investigate and resolve inventory discrepancies, shipping errors, and customer service issues.
• Monitor warehouse equipment and coordinate maintenance or repairs as needed.
• Ensure proper product rotation and adherence to FIFO (First In, First Out) procedures.
• Maintain compliance with OSHA regulations and company safety policies.
• Conduct incident investigations and implement corrective actions to prevent recurrence.
• Ensure all employees use required personal protective equipment (PPE).
• Complete operational reports, productivity tracking, and labor management documentation.
• Collaborate with management to improve efficiency, customer satisfaction, and warehouse performance.

Qualifications

Required

• High school diploma or GED.
• Minimum 3 years of warehouse experience.
• Minimum 1 year of supervisory or team leadership experience.
• Experience operating in refrigerated or frozen storage environments.
• Strong understanding of warehouse operations, inventory control, and shipping/receiving processes.
• Proficiency with warehouse management systems (WMS) and Microsoft Office applications.
• Strong leadership, communication, and problem-solving skills.
• Ability to work flexible schedules, including weekends, holidays, and overtime as needed.

Preferred

• Associate degree in Logistics, Supply Chain Management, Business, or related field.
• OSHA safety training certification.
• Forklift certification and operating experience.
• Experience managing productivity metrics and labor planning.
• Knowledge of food safety programs such as HACCP, SQF, or GMP standards.

Physical Requirements

• Ability to work in refrigerated and frozen environments ranging from 35°F to -10°F.
• Ability to stand, walk, bend, lift, and perform physical tasks throughout the shift.
• Ability to lift and move up to 50 pounds regularly.
• Ability to work safely around industrial equipment and warehouse traffic.
• Ability to use computers, RF scanners, and warehouse technology systems.
