Our client in Independence, IA is looking for a Buyer/Purchaser!

Position Summary: Our client is a local manufacturer that has made precision drivetrain components for heavy-duty commercial trucks for decades. They’re looking for a full-time Buyer / Purchaser to manage inventory, coordinate material deliveries, and work with suppliers to keep production on schedule. This is a great opportunity for someone who enjoys staying organized, following up on details, and working with both suppliers and the production team.

Key Responsibilities:

• Coordinate material needs and delivery schedules with the production supervisor.
• Monitor inventory levels and order materials and supplies as needed.
• Create and track purchase orders, confirm delivery dates, and follow up on delays.
• Purchase materials, tools, office supplies, manufacturing supplies, and services.
• Communicate with suppliers to request quotes, confirm pricing and lead times, and coordinate shipping.
• Maintain accurate purchasing records and assist with general office duties, including answering phones, responding to emails, and filing.

Qualifications:

• A two-year degree or five years of purchasing experience in a manufacturing environment.
• Strong communication, organization, and documentation skills with close attention to detail.
• Proficiency in Microsoft Word, Excel, and Outlook and the ability to learn the company’s manufacturing software.
• A pre-employment drug test is required.

Hours:

• Full-time, 8:30am – 5:00 pm
• Some flexibility may be available around the end time.

Pay:

• $25–27/hour

Commute:

• Located in Independence, IA (approximately 40–45 minutes from Cedar Rapids). Many employees make the commute because of the consistent schedule, stable work, and long-term career opportunities.
