About the Opportunity

Express Employment Professionals is currently recruiting for an experienced Maintenance Mechanic (Industrial Mechanic – Millwright) to join a well-established manufacturing facility in Guelph, Ontario.

This is a permanent opportunity within a continuous manufacturing environment, supporting the safe and reliable operation of specialized industrial production equipment.

The successful candidate will be responsible for troubleshooting mechanical equipment, completing repairs, and performing preventative and predictive maintenance to minimize downtime and maintain production efficiency.

Key Responsibilities

• Perform routine maintenance, inspections and repairs on industrial equipment, including bearings, shafts, chains, conveyors, belts, sprockets, pumps and mechanical drives.

• Maintain and repair hydraulic, pneumatic, water, piping and other plant systems.

• Troubleshoot mechanical breakdowns, identify root causes and implement effective corrective actions.

• Complete preventative and predictive maintenance to identify and address potential equipment issues before they impact production.

• Perform industrial cutting and welding, including torch cutting, stick welding and wire welding.

• Complete equipment rigging, machinery installation, setup and alignment.

• Apply appropriate knowledge of industrial oils, lubricants and lubrication practices.

• Follow all required workplace safety procedures, including lockout/tagout, hot work, line breaking and confined-space entry requirements.

• Maintain accurate maintenance records and communicate equipment concerns, completed repairs and outstanding work across shifts.

• Work collaboratively with production, maintenance and other trades to support equipment reliability and continuous improvement.

Qualifications

• Valid Ontario 433A Certificate of Qualification as an Industrial Mechanic (Millwright).

• High school diploma or equivalent.

• Minimum 3 years of industrial or manufacturing maintenance experience preferred.

• Strong knowledge of hydraulic and pneumatic systems, conveyor systems, bearings, mechanical drives and power transmission.

• Demonstrated welding experience, including stick welding and wire welding.

• Experience with machinery installation, equipment rigging, alignment and lubrication.

• Strong mechanical troubleshooting, diagnostic and problem-solving abilities.

• Demonstrated commitment to workplace safety and safe work practices.

• Ability to successfully complete a workplace skills assessment.

• Must be available to work a rotating 3-on/3-off schedule consisting of 12-hour day and night shifts, including weekends and statutory holidays.

• Must have legal authorization to work in Canada.

• Night Shift Premium: Additional $0.80/hour.

• Weekend Premium: 1.5 times the applicable rate.
