Job Summary

We are seeking a skilled and dependable Structural Steel MIG Welder to join a manufacturing and fabrication team. This position involves MIG welding structural steel components according to specifications, blueprints, and quality standards.

The ideal candidate has experience welding steel, can read measurements and welding instructions, and takes pride in producing strong, clean, high-quality welds. Candidates should be safety-conscious, detail-oriented, and comfortable working in a production environment.

Responsibilities

Perform MIG welding on structural steel components and assemblies.
Read and interpret blueprints, fabrication drawings, and welding symbols.
Set up welding equipment and adjust settings based on material thickness and job requirements.
Prepare metal surfaces and components for welding.
Position, align, fit, and secure steel components before welding.
Inspect completed welds for quality, strength, and accuracy.
Use measuring tools, including tape measures and squares, to verify dimensions.
Identify and correct welding defects as needed.
Maintain welding equipment and keep the work area clean and organized.
Follow all workplace safety procedures and wear required personal protective equipment (PPE).
Work with team members to meet production schedules and quality expectations.
Perform additional fabrication or production duties as assigned.

Qualifications

Previous MIG welding experience required.
Experience welding structural steel preferred.
Ability to read and interpret blueprints, measurements, and welding symbols preferred.
Familiarity with welding equipment, hand tools, and fabrication processes.
Ability to produce consistent, quality welds.
Strong attention to detail and commitment to workplace safety.
Dependable attendance and a strong work ethic.
Ability to work independently and as part of a team.

Physical Requirements

Ability to stand for extended periods.
Ability to lift, carry, and position metal components and materials as required.
Ability to bend, stoop, reach, and perform repetitive movements.
Ability to work around welding equipment, heat, sparks, fumes, and industrial noise while using required protective equipment.
Ability to safely handle materials and tools in a manufacturing environment.

Work Environment

This position is based in a steel fabrication or manufacturing environment. Employees are expected to follow established safety procedures, maintain quality standards, and work efficiently to meet production goals.
