Machinist

Salary: $18/hr - $20/hr DOE

Pay: $18.00 - $22.00 per hour DOE

Express Employment Professionals is recruiting a Machinist for a local manufacturing company in the Yakima area. This position is responsible for operating manual machining equipment and previously set up CNC machines to produce quality metal parts according to specifications. The ideal candidate will be safety-minded, detail-oriented, and committed to producing accurate, high-quality work.

Responsibilities

• Review work orders, blueprints, dimensions, tolerances, and production instructions before starting jobs.
• Set up and operate manual mills and lathes within authorized qualifications.
• Thread holes using a tapping table and countersink holes using a manual mill or drill press.
• Operate previously set up CNC equipment following established procedures and work instructions.
• Inspect finished parts using calipers, micrometers, height gauges, and other precision measuring tools.
• Monitor product quality and dimensional accuracy throughout the manufacturing process.
• Complete production records accurately and report defects, nonconforming parts, or equipment issues promptly.
• Follow all safety procedures and wear required personal protective equipment (PPE).
• Perform routine machine maintenance and keep equipment and work areas clean and organized.
• Communicate effectively with supervisors and team members to support safe and efficient production.

Qualifications

• High school diploma or GED required.
• Previous machining experience preferred.
• Ability to read blueprints, follow machining instructions, and interpret job specifications.
• Experience using precision measuring instruments.
• Strong attention to detail and documentation skills.
• Dependable, self-motivated, and adaptable in a production environment.
• Must be able to pass a pre-employment hair follicle drug screen.

Physical Requirements

• Ability to stand for extended periods.
• Frequent use of hands and repetitive motions.
• Ability to handle and move metal parts safely.
• Comfortable working in a machine shop environment with noise and moving equipment.
• Must be able to perform the essential functions of the position with or without reasonable accommodation.
