Drafting Tech II

 

Position Description

This position reports to the Drafting Area Supervisor.  This position will create original technical drawings, modify existing technical drawings, create and update product catalogs, and perform various drafting duties as required.

 

 

Qualifications

Drafting Tech II position requires that the candidate meet the minimum entry requirements of the position and have achieved the maximum wage as a Tech I.

Appointment to Tech II position may be considered prior to achieving the highest wage of Tech I if the individual has an A.S. degree in drafting and/or achieved advanced training in a related field and meets the minimum entry requirements of the position.

 

Minimum Requirements

 

• Must have achieved the maximum wage available for Drafting Tech I.
• Must demonstrate ability to create original detailed drawings from preliminary engineering sketches, to be used as critical documentation for manufacturing of electronic components, fixtures, and assemblies.
• Must demonstrate proficiency of using AutoCAD and SolidWorks.
• Must demonstrate ability to work with additional software that is currently required for documentation support.
• Must meet requirements for “Drafting Tech I”
• Requires 2-year college degree in related area. Previous experience or alternative formal training will be considered.
• Must work effectively and efficiently with limited or no supervision.
• Must demonstrate ability to interact effectively and efficiently with co-workers and supervision.
• Must have achieved an average performance review rating of 4.0 minimum for the previous 2 review periods.
• Must have no rating of less than 3 on any category in the past 2 review periods.

 

Duties and Responsibilities

Work Assignments.   Work assignments will be directed by the Drafting Area Supervisor and will require performing production drafting duties as well as special project support.  You will be required to prioritize your work assignments to accommodate continually changing needs.

 

Production Drafting.  Most work will involve creating or revising technical drawings.  This position requires accurate drawing and dimensioning.  Accuracy is critical and impacts highly sensitive customer applications.  Attention to detail is vital.

 

Read Technical Drawings/Schematics.  You will frequently be required to accurately read electrical schematics, accurately document dimensions and tolerances, and supply completed drawing package to production assembly area.

 

Electronic Component Identification.  You will be required to accurately identify electronic components that are commonly used in our products.  This will include diodes, capacitors, resistors, transistors, transformers, and various integrated circuits.

 

Mechanical Component Identification.  You will be required to accurately identify hardware, assembly shells, potting materials, wire types, connectors, screws, inserts, thread types, and various items used in manufacturing of our products.

 

Drafting Equipment.  Extensive use of computers, printers, and CAD software is required.  This position requires thorough knowledge of required equipment.

 

Catalog and Advertisements.  You will be required to produce, and revise printed our Product catalog.  This will require using various software packages and interfacing with printing companies, advertising agencies, and our Sales personnel.

 

Web Site.  You will be required to create and modify information that will be posted on our internet web site.  HTML programming knowledge is recommended.

 

Domestic / International Drawings.  You will be required to read, interpret, and document drawings for U.S. customers as well as international customers.  This requires knowledge and competence in English and Metric units.  This also requires knowledge and competence in European rotation of drawings.
