Shop Assistant / Diesel Mechanic Helper

Location: Auburn/Opelika, AL Area
Job Type: Full-Time
Pay: $17 to $21 per hour

Monday - Friday - 7am - 4pm CST 

Express Employment Professionals is currently recruiting for a dependable, mechanically inclined Shop Assistant / Diesel Mechanic Helper to join a busy local company's maintenance team!

This is a great opportunity for someone who enjoys working with their hands, has basic mechanical knowledge, and wants to continue developing their skills in diesel and heavy equipment maintenance.

Job Responsibilities:

• Assist mechanics with maintenance and repairs on diesel trucks, equipment, and machinery

• Perform basic preventative maintenance, including oil changes, lubrication, and filter replacements

• Assist with diagnosing mechanical issues and equipment breakdowns

• Inspect equipment and identify potential maintenance needs

• Maintain and organize tools, parts, and shop supplies

• Keep the shop and work areas clean, organized, and safe

• Assist with general shop duties and equipment upkeep

• Perform additional maintenance-related tasks as needed

Qualifications:

• Basic mechanical knowledge or previous experience in a shop, automotive, diesel, or equipment maintenance environment preferred

• Familiarity with hand tools, power tools, and basic mechanical repairs

• Ability to work independently and follow instructions

• Willingness to learn and assist experienced mechanics

• Ability to lift heavy parts and work in a physically demanding environment

• Strong work ethic, dependability, and attention to safety

• Diesel or heavy equipment experience is a plus, but not required
