We have an opening for an entry-level Fabricator position working at a company located in Decatur, AL that provides caster maintenance for the local flat-rolled steel industry. This is an evaluation-to-hire opportunity with potential for full-time placement.
*** THIS IS A MID-LEVEL POSITION REQUIRING PREVIOUS FABRICATING AND WELDING EXPERIENCE ***
Skills/Qualifications
A valid Driver’s License is REQUIRED.
A minimum of 3 years of fabricating and welding ( MIG, TIG, Stick) experience is required.
Must be willing to learn how to operate an overhead crane and forklift.
Must be familiar with using hand/power tools, and precision tools such as micrometers, calipers, bore gauges, etc.
Must be willing to wear PPE (safety boots, hard hat, safety glasses, gloves, ear plugs, etc.) throughout an entire shift.
Must have a working command of the English language and be able to communicate orally and in writing.
Must be capable of arriving at work on time and working an entire work week on a consistent basis.
Ability to independently solve problems and perform corrective measures.
Ability to work effectively in a team environment.
Ability to lift 40 lb. unassisted.
Duties/Responsibilities
Fabricates and assembles metals products for machinery and equipment.
Performs welding, brazing, and cutting using gas and electrical welding equipment.
Cleans and prepares surfaces to be welded.
Sets up, assembles and tack welds parts.
Builds up worn and/or defected surfaces.
Reads and interprets blue prints.
Inspects incoming equipment to determine if maintenance is required.
Using a torch or an oxygen lance, dismantles, assembles and cuts materials to size and shape.
Other work may be assigned at Management’s direction.
