Head of Production (Direct Hire Opportunity)

Located in Southlake, TX

Salary: $120,000-$130,000/year

Express Employment Professionals is recruiting a Head of Production for a global electronics manufacturing services (EMS) company in Southlake.

 

About the role
You’ll run day-to-day production and make sure customer orders are completed on time and accurately, in line with Planning and the SAP/FLX systems. You’ll lead the SMT and Secondary Operations supervisors, build a cross-trained team, and use LEAN principles to improve flow and hit KPIs.

 

What you’ll do

• Own daily production operations and goals, and make sure Operations metrics are met
• Staff to the production schedule, including managing time off and leave requests
• Cross-train the team so production can adjust to capacity changes and avoid single points of failure
• Lead, support, and develop the SMT and Secondary Operations supervisors and the wider production team
• Run daily shop floor meetings and lead root cause analysis when metrics are missed
• Keep the floor audit- and visitor-ready using 6S
• Find and carry out improvements that help production flow better
• Keep Planning, Account Management, and leadership informed on work order status, and raise issues early when the schedule is at risk
• Make sure equipment, tools, and fixtures are available, and oversee preventive and ongoing maintenance
• Work with Account Management to bring in Engineering or customer support for difficult boards or test equipment
• Make sure SAP and FLX are used correctly on the floor, and give Planning and Technical accurate cycle times and process feedback
• Support quality standards and continuous improvement within the QM System

What you’ll need

• 10+ years of technical experience
• At least 5 years as a Manufacturing Manager or Production Manager
• Working knowledge of relevant manufacturing processes, SMT experience a plus
• Familiarity with LEAN manufacturing concepts
• Microsoft Office, especially Excel
• SAP experience preferred
• Associate’s degree or equivalent experience
