About the Role

Express Employment Professionals seeking an experienced and trustworthy Accountant to join our client's team. The ideal candidate will have strong accounting knowledge, experience managing full-cycle accounting functions, and proficiency with Sage Accounting Software. This role will be responsible for Accounts Receivable, Accounts Payable, government remittances, tax filings, and supporting the overall financial operations of the business.

Key Responsibilities

• Manage Accounts Payable (AP) and Accounts Receivable (AR) processes.
• Prepare and process invoices, payments, and account reconciliations.
• Monitor outstanding receivables and follow up on collections.
• Perform bank, credit card, and general ledger reconciliations.
• Prepare and submit CRA filings, including HST/GST remittances and payroll-related filings.
• Assist with month-end and year-end closing procedures.
• Maintain accurate financial records and supporting documentation.
• Generate financial reports and provide insights to management.
• Ensure compliance with accounting standards, tax regulations, and company policies.
• Support budgeting, forecasting, and cash flow management activities.
• Liaise with external accountants, auditors, and government agencies as required.

Qualifications

• Minimum 3-5 years of accounting experience (building supply, construction, or distribution industry experience is an asset).
• Strong knowledge of Accounts Payable, Accounts Receivable, bookkeeping, and financial reporting.
• Experience with CRA filings, HST/GST remittances, payroll deductions, and tax compliance.
• Proficiency with Sage Accounting Software is required.
• Advanced knowledge of Microsoft Excel and other Microsoft Office applications.
• Excellent attention to detail and organizational skills.
• Strong analytical and problem-solving abilities.
• Ability to maintain confidentiality and handle sensitive financial information.
• Reliable, trustworthy, and able to work independently.

Preferred Qualifications

• Diploma or Degree in Accounting, Finance, or a related field.
• Accounting designation (CPA or working toward CPA) is considered an asset.
