Job Overview
As a Dental Assistant, you’ll help keep appointments organized and support patients throughout their care. You’ll prepare treatment areas, assist clinicians during procedures, maintain accurate records, and follow infection prevention practices. Your work may support general dentistry, pediatric dentistry, prosthodontics, endodontics, and oral surgery.
Responsibilities
- Prepare rooms and dental equipment; process instruments using established sterilization procedures and aseptic technique.
- Provide chairside assisting and four-handed dentistry support; prepare materials and use dental equipment, including a 3D scanner, as needed.
- Support dental X-ray and other medical imaging procedures, and record vital signs when required.
- Update medical records and documentation in patient management software or electronic medical record (EMR) systems, such as Dentrix or Eaglesoft.
- Assist with patient management and dental receptionist tasks, while protecting privacy under the Health Insurance Portability and Accountability Act (HIPAA) and clinical confidentiality policies.

Skills
- Essential: Dental assisting or dental clinic experience; patient care skills; knowledge of dental and medical terminology, anatomy, and infection control.
- Essential: Ability to follow dental instrument processing, dental sterilization, and healthcare infection prevention and control procedures.
- Preferred: Experience with EMR systems, Dentrix, Eaglesoft, patient management software, medical documentation, and medical records.
- Preferred: Familiarity with dental X-ray, medical imaging, vital signs, and 3D scanners.
- Preferred: Experience supporting general dentistry, pediatric dentistry, prosthodontics, endodontics, oral surgery, chairside assisting, and four-handed dentistry.
