Driver / Delivery Driver

Job Description

Responsible for the safe and timely delivery of building materials to customer job sites while maintaining exceptional customer service and adherence to company safety standards. Drivers play a critical role in daily operations by ensuring materials are delivered accurately, loads are secured properly, and customers receive professional service. This position offers local routes, daily home time, and opportunities for growth within a team-oriented environment.

Key Responsibilities

Vehicle Operation & Deliveries

• Safely operate company vehicles, including flatbeds, cube vans, boom trucks, moffett trucks, and trucks up to 26 feet in length.
• Conduct pre-trip and post-trip inspections to ensure vehicles are safe and roadworthy.
• Load, secure, transport, unload, and stage building materials according to company procedures and customer requirements.
• Verify delivery accuracy against shipping documents and customer orders.
• Ensure loads are properly secured and inspected prior to departure.
• Operate forklifts and other delivery equipment as trained and authorized.
• Maintain a professional and customer-focused attitude while representing the company at customer locations.

Safety

• Follow all company driving policies, transportation regulations, and workplace safety procedures.
• Wear required personal protective equipment (PPE) at all times.
• Use proper lifting and material-handling techniques.
• Maintain a clean, organized, and safe work environment.
• Comply with OSHA and company safety standards.

Communication & Teamwork

• Communicate delivery issues, operational concerns, and improvement opportunities to management.
• Work collaboratively with warehouse staff, drivers, and other team members to support daily operations.
• Attend and actively participate in company meetings, safety briefings, and operational discussions.
• Assist other departments as needed to meet business objectives.

Training & Development

• Participate in all required company training programs and safety certifications.
• Continuously develop knowledge of building materials, delivery procedures, and equipment operation.

Qualifications

• Valid Driver’s License with a clean driving record required.
• CDL license preferred but not required.
• Previous delivery, warehouse, construction, or material-handling experience preferred.
• Basic knowledge of building materials is an asset.
• Ability to safely operate forklifts and delivery equipment or willingness to become trained.
• Strong communication, customer service, and problem-solving skills.
• Ability to work effectively in a team environment.
• Demonstrated leadership skills with the ability to assist in directing and supporting team operations when needed.

Physical Requirements

• Frequent driving and operation of company vehicles throughout the workday.
• Frequent use of hands and arms for equipment operation and material handling.
• Ability to regularly push, pull, lift, and carry building materials weighing up to 100 pounds using proper lifting techniques.
• Ability to move loaded carts and materials across various surfaces.
• Ability to work in warehouse, yard, and outdoor environments in varying weather conditions.
• Ability to stand, walk, bend, climb, and perform physically demanding tasks throughout the shift.
