Box Truck Delivery Driver

Location:  Milford, CT
Pay: $20/hour
Schedule: Monday – Friday 7am – 3:30pm
(8 hour days, may start earlier depending WHERE the deliveries are to beat the traffic.)

Job Summary

Express Employment Professionals is recruiting a dependable, safety-conscious Box Truck Delivery Driver for a local company. This is a hands-on position ideal for someone who enjoys driving, working independently, staying physically active, and handling a variety of deliveries.

The ideal candidate will have experience operating commercial delivery vehicles, be comfortable moving heavy or bulky items, and demonstrate good judgment, problem-solving skills, and attention to detail.

Job Responsibilities

• Safely operate a 16-foot box truck and cargo vans for pickups and deliveries.
• Operate a cargo van towing a 24-foot trailer used to transport automotive equipment, vehicles, or chassis.
• Load, unload, lift, and move a variety of materials, including outdoor patio furniture, heating radiators, automotive components, and other bulky items.
• Properly secure loads to prevent damage during transportation.
• Use appropriate moving equipment and safe material-handling techniques.
• Inspect vehicles and equipment before and after deliveries.
• Plan efficient delivery routes and follow instructions accurately.
• Communicate professionally with customers and coworkers.
• Exercise sound judgment when handling oversized, heavy, or unusual items.
• Assist with general warehouse or material-handling duties as needed.

Qualifications

• Valid driver's license and current DOT Medical Examiner's Certificate (medical card) required.
• Previous experience driving box trucks, cargo vans, or similar commercial delivery vehicles preferred.
• Experience towing and maneuvering trailers strongly preferred.
• Ability to safely lift, carry, push, pull, and maneuver heavy or bulky objects, with assistance or equipment when appropriate.
• Knowledge of proper loading, unloading, and cargo-securing procedures.
• Good driving record and commitment to safe driving practices.
• Strong attention to detail, common sense, and practical problem-solving abilities.
• Dependable, punctual, and able to work independently.
• Professional attitude and good communication skills.

Physical Requirements

This is a physically demanding delivery position involving frequent entry and exit from vehicles, loading and unloading, bending, pushing, pulling, and moving large or awkwardly shaped items. Candidates must be able to perform the essential physical functions of the position

PAY & BENEFITS
