Do you enjoy working outdoors, staying active, and making sure work is done safely and correctly? We are hiring a dependable Field Construction Inspector to support neighborhood construction projects. This role is ideal for someone who is observant, organized, comfortable working with contractors, and takes pride in quality workmanship.

No two days are exactly alike. You will visit active job sites, document construction progress, verify measurements, help maintain safe work areas, and ensure projects meet established quality standards.

 

What You'll Do

• Inspect daily work: Observe construction crews and verify that work is completed according to project plans and quality requirements.
• Document progress: Use an iPad and mobile applications to take time-stamped photos, record completed work, and upload documentation throughout the day.
• Verify measurements: Read construction drawings, mark up prints, measure completed footage, and confirm material types and quantities.
• Monitor quality: Check installation stages, verify work depths and measurements, and identify issues that need correction.
• Promote job-site safety: Set out cones and signage, identify traffic control needs, and communicate safety concerns promptly.
• Work with contractors and inspectors: Coordinate with construction crews and customer representatives, answer questions, and help resolve quality concerns.
• Communicate with residents: Professionally explain work taking place in their neighborhood and respond calmly to questions or concerns.
• Complete project closeout: Participate in final site walk-throughs, verify completed work, and ensure all required records and photos are submitted.
• What We're Looking For
• Construction, utility, roadwork, surveying, inspection, or field service experience is a plus.
• Comfortable working outdoors throughout the day in changing weather conditions.
• Able to read plans, follow instructions, and accurately record measurements and quantities.
• Comfortable using an iPad, smartphone, and basic mobile applications.
• Strong attention to detail and the ability to recognize when work does not meet requirements.
• Clear communication skills and a professional approach when working with contractors, inspectors, and residents.
• Able to stay calm, make sound decisions, and respond quickly when issues arise.
• Reliable transportation to assigned project locations and the ability to travel locally between job sites.
• Able to meet the physical demands of an active construction environment, including walking, standing, and working around construction equipment.

 

What to Expect

• Work on assigned neighborhood projects, typically spending approximately 3–4 weeks at a project location before moving to the next assignment.
• Start the morning reviewing plans and preparing for the day's site visits.
• Travel to the assigned job site, generally departing by approximately 7:30 a.m.
• Spend the day observing work, recording progress, checking quality, and communicating with project personnel.
• Typical field hours run until approximately 4:30 p.m., depending on project needs.
