Position Overview

Express Employment Professionals in Yuba City is partnering with an established agricultural services company in the Yuba-Sutter area to hire an experienced Agricultural Equipment / Diesel Mechanic to maintain and repair equipment used in daily agricultural operations.

This position focuses on diagnosing, troubleshooting, servicing, and repairing diesel-powered machinery, agricultural equipment, and supporting mechanical systems. Responsibilities include preventative maintenance, diesel engine repairs, hydraulic troubleshooting, equipment inspections, and general mechanical repairs to ensure machinery operates safely and efficiently.

The ideal candidate has a strong mechanical background, hands-on experience with diesel engines or agricultural equipment, and the ability to diagnose and resolve equipment issues independently. Experience with hydraulic systems, basic electrical troubleshooting, and welding or fabrication is highly desirable.

This is a hands-on position suited for someone who enjoys mechanical problem-solving, working with a variety of equipment, and keeping machinery operating reliably.

Compensation & Schedule

• Pay: $25.00–$30.00 per hour, depending on experience.

• Schedule: Monday through Friday, 7:00 AM–5:00 PM.

• Shift: Day Shift.

• Employment Type: Full-Time.

Primary Job Duties

• Diagnose, troubleshoot, and repair diesel engines and agricultural equipment.

• Perform routine maintenance, preventative maintenance, and equipment inspections.

• Troubleshoot and repair hydraulic systems, including hoses, cylinders, pumps, valves, and fittings.

• Diagnose mechanical, electrical, and equipment performance issues.

• Inspect and repair engines, transmissions, drivetrains, belts, bearings, and other mechanical components as applicable.

• Maintain and repair agricultural machinery and supporting equipment.

• Inspect equipment for worn or damaged components and determine appropriate repairs.

• Perform welding and basic fabrication repairs when necessary.

• Assist with equipment preparation, inspections, and seasonal maintenance.

• Test equipment following repairs to ensure proper operation and safety.

• Maintain accurate maintenance records and document completed repairs.

• Safely operate equipment during troubleshooting, testing, and inspections.

• Keep tools, equipment, and work areas clean, organized, and safe.

• Follow established safety procedures and perform additional maintenance duties as assigned.

Requirements

• Previous experience as an Agricultural Mechanic, Diesel Mechanic, Heavy Equipment Mechanic, or in a related mechanical repair position.

• Strong understanding of diesel engines and mechanical troubleshooting.

• Experience diagnosing and repairing hydraulic systems.

• Ability to perform preventative maintenance and identify equipment problems before they result in breakdowns.

• Familiarity with agricultural machinery or heavy equipment preferred.

• Basic electrical troubleshooting knowledge preferred.

• Welding and fabrication experience preferred.

• Ability to use hand tools, power tools, and diagnostic equipment.

• Strong mechanical aptitude and problem-solving abilities.

• Ability to work independently and manage multiple repair priorities.

• Good communication skills, attention to detail, and a dependable work ethic.

Physical Requirements & Work Environment

• Ability to stand, walk, bend, kneel, crouch, climb, and work in various positions while repairing equipment.

• Ability to perform physically demanding mechanical repair and maintenance tasks.

• Comfortable working around diesel engines, heavy machinery, hydraulic systems, and moving equipment.

• Ability to safely use hand tools, power tools, lifting equipment, and other shop equipment.

• Comfortable working in shop, yard, and outdoor environments.

• Ability to follow established safety procedures and use appropriate personal protective equipment.
