Key Responsibilities

  • Develop accurate 3D piping, equipment, scaffolding, and support models from P&IDs, plot plans, specifications, and equipment drawings.

  • Coordinate piping layouts with customers, design teams, production teams, and subcontractors to resolve clashes and constructability issues.
  • Perform clash detection in Navisworks Manage, establish clearance requirements, and document resolutions.
  • Define shop and field welds, create fabrication spools, and produce spool diagrams, general assembly drawings, and installation drawings.
  • Extract and validate bills of materials and material takeoffs (BOM/MTO) by line, system, and area for procurement and cost tracking.
  • Track fabrication, welding, and installation status using model data, Excel, and Power BI.
  • Maintain consistent revisions across models, drawings, and reports while following BIM standards and modeling guidelines.

Required Qualifications

  • 3+ years of relevant piping design or BIM experience.
  • Advanced Plant 3D proficiency, including independent project setup, specification registration, catalog creation, and 3D modeling.
  • Ability to read and interpret P&IDs, plot plans, piping drawings, material specifications, and equipment vendor drawings.
  • Strong understanding of piping classes, materials, fittings, connection methods, bolting, equipment nozzles, and structural steel supports.
  • Experience planning practical piping routes and supports that account for installation access, clearances, and thermal considerations.
  • Hands-on experience defining weld locations, generating fabrication spools, and producing usable drawings from 3D models.
  • Experience extracting and validating BOM/MTO data and managing model and drawing revisions.
  • Proficiency with Navisworks Manage/Simulate, including model conversion, object searches, data exports, viewpoints, comments, and clash reporting.
  • Experience using Excel and Power BI to organize project data and visualize design, fabrication, and construction progress.
  • Strong communication, organization, and prioritization skills.
  • Valid driver’s license and authorization to work in the United States.

Preferred Qualifications

  • Associate degree in mechanical engineering or a related field.
  • Construction industry experience.
