Position Summary

The Forklift Operator is responsible for the safe and efficient movement, storage, and handling of products within a temperature-controlled cold storage warehouse. This role supports warehouse operations by loading and unloading trailers, replenishing inventory, and ensuring products are stored accurately while maintaining food safety, quality, and operational standards. Candidates must be comfortable working in refrigerated and freezer environments.

Essential Duties and Responsibilities

• Operate forklifts, reach trucks, pallet jacks, and other material handling equipment safely and efficiently.
• Load and unload inbound and outbound trailers in accordance with company procedures.
• Move products to designated storage locations while maintaining inventory accuracy.
• Perform put-away, replenishment, and order-picking activities.
• Verify product quantities, lot codes, and condition during movement and storage.
• Use RF scanners and warehouse management systems (WMS) to track inventory transactions.
• Conduct pre-shift equipment inspections and report maintenance concerns.
• Ensure pallets are properly stacked, wrapped, and secured.
• Follow all food safety, quality assurance, and sanitation requirements.
• Maintain compliance with OSHA standards and company safety policies.
• Assist with cycle counts, physical inventories, and stock audits.
• Keep warehouse aisles, docks, and work areas clean and organized.
• Support warehouse operations and special projects as assigned.

Qualifications

Required

• High school diploma or GED preferred.
• Minimum one year of forklift operating experience preferred.
• Ability to obtain and maintain forklift certification.
• Ability to work in refrigerated and freezer temperatures ranging from 35°F to -20°F.
• Strong attention to detail and commitment to workplace safety.
• Ability to work independently and as part of a team.
• Reliable attendance and punctuality.

Preferred

• Previous cold storage, food distribution, or warehouse experience.
• Experience using RF scanners and warehouse management systems.
• Familiarity with inventory control and shipping/receiving processes.
• Experience operating reach trucks, stand-up forklifts, or high-rack equipment.

Physical Requirements

• Ability to lift up to 50 pounds occasionally.
• Ability to sit, stand, bend, and climb on and off equipment throughout the shift.
• Ability to work extended periods in cold and freezer environments.
• Ability to operate equipment safely in fast-paced warehouse conditions.
• Ability to work overtime, weekends, and holidays as business needs require.
