Position Summary

The Warehouse Lumper/Material Handler is responsible for loading, unloading, sorting, stacking, and moving products within a temperature-controlled cold storage warehouse. This position plays a critical role in ensuring products are handled safely, accurately, and efficiently while maintaining food safety standards and inventory integrity. Employees must be comfortable working in refrigerated and freezer environments for extended periods.

Essential Duties and Responsibilities

• Load and unload inbound and outbound trailers safely and efficiently.
• Break down, sort, and palletize products according to customer and warehouse requirements.
• Verify product counts and inspect shipments for damage or discrepancies.
• Move products using pallet jacks, forklifts (if certified), and other warehouse equipment.
• Wrap, label, and secure pallets for storage or shipment.
• Maintain proper inventory organization within designated storage locations.
• Follow all food safety, sanitation, and quality control procedures.
• Adhere to company safety policies and OSHA regulations.
• Keep work areas clean and free of debris.
• Assist with inventory counts and cycle counts as assigned.
• Communicate effectively with supervisors, forklift operators, drivers, and warehouse staff.
• Perform other warehouse-related duties as assigned.

Qualifications

Required

• High school diploma or GED preferred.
• Ability to work in cold temperatures ranging from 40°F to -20°F.
• Ability to lift, carry, push, and pull up to 50 pounds regularly.
• Ability to stand, walk, bend, kneel, and reach throughout the shift.
• Strong attention to detail and commitment to accuracy.
• Dependable attendance and punctuality.
• Ability to work flexible schedules, including overtime, weekends, and holidays as needed.

Preferred

• Previous warehouse, distribution, logistics, or cold storage experience.
• Experience with electric pallet jacks and RF scanners.
• Forklift certification or willingness to obtain certification.

Working Conditions

• Refrigerated and freezer warehouse environment.
• Exposure to cold temperatures, warehouse equipment, and moving machinery.
• Fast-paced environment requiring physical labor throughout the shift.
• Personal protective equipment (PPE) provided and required.

Physical Requirements

• Frequently lift up to 50 pounds.
