We have an opening for a Scrap Handler position for a company that manages manufacturing waste and recyclables at the Mazda Toyota Manufacturing USA (MTMUS) facility in Madison, AL. This is an evaluation-to-hire opportunity with potential for full-time placement.
*** THIS POSITION INVOLVES EXPOSURE TO EXTREME WORKING CONDITIONS ***
While performing the duties of this job, the employee regularly works near moving mechanical parts, in outdoor weather conditions with exposure to rain, humidity, and extreme hot/cold temperatures. The employee may also be exposed to fumes or airborne particles, toxic or caustic chemicals on an occasional basis.
Skills/Qualifications
Must have a command of the English language and have good verbal and written communication skills.
Must be able to apply basic math skills (addition, subtraction, multiplication, division) in all units of measure.
Must be willing to wear all required PPE while performing job duties.
Must be capable of working an entire work week on a consistent basis.
Duties/Responsibilities
Unload new waste containers to be used in the plant.
Unload waste containers in storage area according to waste type.
Transfer waste rags and paper from drums into Gaylord boxes.
Crush cans and drums in a drum crusher.
Puncture aerosol cans prior to disposal.
Collect used light bulbs and store them in boxes.
Run daily routes to pick up full drums waste containers and/or empty raw material drums for storage and disposal.
Destruction of struts.
Weigh waste containers before putting them into storage.
Follow all safety guidelines and procedures.
Clean work area according to 5S standards.
Assist in loading waste containers for shipment.
Assist in other areas as time permits.
Participate in team meetings and training.
Other duties may be assigned.
