The client places associates in light industrial, warehousing and logistics, manufacturing, skilled trades, and general office service roles across Chicago and the northwest suburbs. The Office Manager is the owner's right-hand: you own the office floor, the team, and the daily client relationships.
Key responsibilities
Team leadership
• Manage, schedule, and coach the internal staff; set daily priorities and hold the team to hours and fill-rate goals
• Run the morning huddle and track open orders, starts, and call-offs
• Train new internal hires on company systems and office procedures
Recruiting
• Lead high-level recruiting strategy: sourcing plans, job postings, and hard-to-fill or high-volume orders
• Plan and staff job fairs, hiring events, and community outreach
• Review recruiter pipelines and step in on key placements and direct-hire searches
Clients
• Take and return customer calls; be the main day-to-day contact for active accounts
• Make on-site visits to client facilities to check on associates, resolve issues, and find new openings
• Grow existing accounts by spotting added shifts, departments, and direct-hire needs
Associates
• Handle associate performance, attendance, and conduct issues, including documented reprimands and terminations
• Resolve escalated associate concerns fairly and quickly
Safety and workers' comp
• Manage workers' compensation claims from first report through return to work
• Coordinate incident reporting and follow-up with clients and associates
• Keep the office compliant with the Illinois Day and Temporary Labor Services Act and company standards
Office operations
• Keep the office running: opening procedures, supplies, vendors, and front-desk coverage
• Maintain accurate records in the applicant, order, and payroll systems
Qualifications
Required
• 3+ years in staffing, recruiting, or light industrial operations, including at least 1 year supervising people
• Track record managing client relationships and handling difficult conversations with associates
• Comfortable visiting warehouse, manufacturing, and plant floors
• Strong organization; able to juggle open orders, call-offs, and client issues
• Working knowledge of Microsoft Office Suite
Preferred
• Bilingual English/Spanish is a plus
• Experience with workers' compensation claims and safety incident handling
• Familiarity with Illinois day and temporary labor rules
• Prior experience at a staffing franchise or multi-location staffing firm
• Bachelor's degree in Business, HR, or a related field
