Express Employment Professionals is seeking an experienced Class B CDL Driver / Warehouse Associate for a growing distribution operation in Chesapeake.

 

This is a true hybrid position. The selected candidate will make local deliveries using a flatbed truck and will also be expected to assist with warehouse and yard operations whenever they are not on the road.

 

This is not a driving-only position. Candidates must be comfortable performing hands-on warehouse and material-handling work as a regular part of the job.

 

Responsibilities

• Safely operate a Class B commercial flatbed truck for local deliveries

• Deliver materials to customer and jobsite locations throughout the local area

• Load and unload materials at delivery locations

• Operate a truck-mounted Moffett forklift after company-provided training

• Pull and stage customer orders in the warehouse

• Assist with receiving and putting away incoming inventory

• Load and unload trucks using forklifts and material-handling equipment

• Assist with material organization in the warehouse and pipe yard

• Verify materials and orders for accuracy

• Maintain a clean, safe, and organized work environment

• Assist the warehouse team wherever needed when not completing deliveries

 

Requirements

• Valid Class B CDL required

• Approximately 2+ years of commercial driving experience preferred

• Candidates with less experience may be considered based on overall qualifications

• Previous local delivery, flatbed, warehouse, forklift, or building-material experience is highly preferred

• Ability to repeatedly lift and handle up to 50 lbs

• Comfortable performing physical warehouse work throughout the day

• Strong safety awareness and dependable attendance

• Ability to work independently and as part of a warehouse team

• Professional communication skills when interacting with customers and jobsites

• Willingness to perform warehouse duties when not driving is required

 

Equipment

The position may involve operating:

• Class B flatbed commercial trucks

• Truck-mounted Moffett forklifts

• Standard forklifts

• Pallet and material-handling equipment

 

Moffett experience is a plus but not required. Training can be provided.

 

Schedule

Typical operating hours are Monday-Friday, 7:00 AM-5:00 PM.

 

Drivers should have some schedule flexibility. Certain deliveries may require an earlier start, and some routes may occasionally keep the driver out until approximately 6:00-7:00 PM.

 

Weekend work is possible but expected to be very rare.

 

No overnight or over-the-road travel. You will be home each night.

 

Physical Requirements

Candidates must be able to:

• Repeatedly lift and carry up to 50 lbs

• Stand and walk for extended periods

• Bend, reach, push, pull, load, and unload materials

• Work both indoors and outdoors in warehouse, yard, and jobsite environments

• Safely perform physical material-handling responsibilities throughout the workday
