Screw Machine Operator – Davenport / Precision Manufacturing

Express Employment Professionals is recruiting a Screw Machine Operator for a precision manufacturing company in the Shelton, CT area.

We are seeking a mechanically inclined, detail-oriented Machine Operator with experience operating automatic screw machines, cam-operated machinery, or similar precision manufacturing equipment.

The ideal candidate will be comfortable working with small metal components, using micrometers and calipers to inspect finished parts, and maintaining consistent quality throughout production.

Job Responsibilities

• Operate and monitor Davenport automatic screw machines and other cam-operated production equipment.

• Inspect precision-machined metal parts using micrometers, calipers, and other measuring instruments.

• Perform routine dimensional checks to ensure parts meet specifications and tolerances.

• Monitor machine performance and production quality throughout each shift.

• Identify defective or out-of-tolerance parts and report issues for adjustment.

• Load materials, remove finished parts, and maintain an organized work area.

• Complete production and quality inspection documentation.

• Follow established manufacturing procedures and workplace safety standards.

Qualifications

• Previous machine operating experience in a manufacturing environment.

• Experience with Davenport, Brown & Sharpe, Acme-Gridley, or other automatic screw machines preferred.

• Ability to accurately use micrometers and calipers is required.

• Familiarity with precision-machined parts and dimensional tolerances.

• Ability to recognize quality issues and maintain consistent production standards.

• Strong mechanical aptitude and attention to detail.

• Ability to work independently and follow production instructions.

• Experience reading blueprints or technical drawings is a plus.

Additional Experience That May Be Considered

Candidates with experience in CNC machining, CNC lathes, Swiss screw machines, precision turning, or other metalworking operations are encouraged to apply, particularly if they have strong measurement and inspection skills.

PAY RATE AND HOURS ARE CLIENT SPECIFIC - Range is $22-24/hour based on your experience
