Metallurgical Lab Technician (Sample Preparation)

Job Description

We are seeking a detail-oriented Metallurgical Lab Technician to prepare metal samples for laboratory testing and analysis. This role supports quality control by ensuring samples are properly prepared for examination and testing. The ideal candidate is dependable, follows procedures carefully, and maintains a strong focus on quality and safety.

Responsibilities

• Prepare metal samples for metallurgical testing and analysis.

• Cut, grind, polish, mount, and label samples according to established procedures.

• Use hand tools, laboratory equipment, and sample preparation machinery.

• Inspect samples for proper preparation and accuracy.

• Follow written instructions and safety procedures.

• Maintain a clean, organized laboratory and work area.

• Document sample information and assist with maintaining accurate records.

• Work with laboratory personnel to ensure samples are ready for testing within required timeframes.

Qualifications

• High school diploma or GED preferred.

• Manufacturing, laboratory, quality inspection, or hands-on mechanical experience is a plus.

• Ability to follow detailed instructions and standard operating procedures.

• Strong attention to detail and commitment to quality.

• Basic computer and documentation skills preferred.

• Ability to safely operate tools and equipment after training.

• Reliable attendance and ability to work independently or as part of a team.

Physical Requirements

• Ability to stand for extended periods.

• Ability to perform repetitive hand and arm movements during sample preparation.

• Ability to lift and move materials as required by the position.

• Ability to wear required personal protective equipment and follow laboratory safety requirements.
