Job Description

• Operate, monitor, and troubleshoot primary sawmill equipment and machinery
• Train and operate various mobile equipment and production stations to provide operational coverage for employee absences, vacations, and shift bottlenecks.
• Maintain target production speeds, handle material flow smoothly, and quickly clear jams or diagnose operational hiccups to reduce facility downtime.
• Promote a zero-incident safety culture by strictly following company safety rules, machine guarding guidelines, and Lockout/Tagout (LOTO) procedures. Keep workspaces, catwalks, and machinery areas clean and free of debris.
• Safely use walk behind powered industrial trucks
• Communicate effectively with supervisors, maintenance teams, and fellow crew members to report mechanical failures or quality issues.

Job Requirements

• Prior hands-on experience working within an industrial manufacturing, lumber/sawmill, or heavy production environment.
• Direct experience operating mobile equipment (such as industrial loaders, forklifts, or heavy utility machinery) in a mill setting is strongly preferred.
• Ability to understand, communicate, and carefully follow detailed standard operating and safety procedures.
• Ability to stand, walk, climb stairs/ladders, and perform physical tasks for extended shift hours.
• Comfortable working in a rugged, non-temperature-controlled environment (exposed to outdoor weather conditions, noise, and dust common to lumber manufacturing).
