About the Role

Express Healthcare Staffing is seeking compassionate, dependable, and detail-oriented Medical Assistants (MAs) to support healthcare facilities, medical offices, clinics, and outpatient practices throughout Hattiesburg and surrounding areas in Mississippi.

In this role, you will play an essential part in supporting healthcare providers, assisting with patient care, maintaining accurate medical records, and helping ensure efficient daily clinical operations. Key Responsibilities

• Welcome patients, assist with check-in, and prepare them for examinations and medical procedures.
• Obtain and document vital signs, including blood pressure, temperature, pulse, and oxygen saturation, as appropriate to the assignment.
• Assist physicians and other healthcare providers with examinations, treatments, and minor office procedures.
• Collect and prepare laboratory specimens and perform approved point-of-care testing in accordance with established protocols.
• Administer medications, injections, or vaccinations only when properly authorized, trained, and permitted by applicable Mississippi law and facility policy.
• Maintain accurate patient records, update medical histories, and document clinical information in electronic health record (EHR) systems.
• Schedule appointments, coordinate referrals, and assist with patient communications and follow-up care.
• Prepare examination rooms, maintain medical supplies, and ensure equipment is clean, organized, and ready for use.
• Follow infection control procedures, including proper sanitation, disinfection, and handling of medical waste.
• Protect patient confidentiality and comply with HIPAA requirements and applicable healthcare regulations.
• Communicate effectively with patients, providers, and administrative staff to support efficient clinic operations.
• Provide compassionate patient service while helping maintain a professional, safe, and welcoming healthcare environment.

Qualifications & Skills

Education: High school diploma or equivalent required. Completion of an accredited Medical Assistant program.

Certification: Certified Medical Assistant (CMA), Registered Medical Assistant (RMA), or other relevant credential preferred when applicable to the assignment.

Experience: Previous experience in a medical office, physician's clinic, outpatient facility, urgent care center, or other healthcare setting preferred. Entry-level candidates with relevant training, strong interpersonal skills, and a willingness to learn are encouraged to apply.

Clinical Skills: Familiarity with vital signs, patient intake, medical terminology, specimen collection, infection control, and electronic health records is beneficial.

Attributes: Strong organizational skills, attention to detail, professionalism, compassion, and excellent verbal and written communication skills.

Requirements: Ability to work effectively in a fast-paced clinical environment, follow provider instructions, maintain patient confidentiality, and perform assigned duties within the scope of training and applicable regulations.
