About the Opportunity

Express Employment Professionals is recruiting for a Senior Account Manager to join a growing transportation and logistics team. This role focuses on managing customer accounts, coordinating freight operations, developing carrier relationships, and driving profitable growth, primarily within the US-to-US domestic freight market.

The ideal candidate has strong brokerage experience, excellent negotiation skills, and the ability to manage accounts independently while resolving complex operational challenges.

Key Responsibilities

• Manage customer accounts, strengthen relationships, and identify opportunities for growth and retention.
• Partner with Sales on RFPs, spot quotes, and new business opportunities.
• Oversee shipments from order entry through delivery, documentation, and billing support.
• Negotiate carrier rates, secure capacity, and maintain reliable carrier partnerships.
• Monitor shipments, resolve service disruptions, and coordinate recovery plans.
• Review account profitability, transportation costs, and margins to identify improvements.
• Verify carrier insurance, operating authority, safety, and compliance documentation.
• Maintain accurate shipment records, tracking updates, rate confirmations, and proof of delivery.
• Collaborate with internal teams to resolve operational, billing, and customer service issues.
• Support compliance, cargo security, claims investigations, and team development.

Qualifications

• Minimum five years of transportation, logistics, or freight brokerage experience.
• Strong knowledge of freight operations.
• Experience with carrier procurement, rate negotiation, pricing, and RFPs.
• Understanding of account profitability, gross margins, and transportation costs.
• Proficiency with transportation management systems (TMS) and Microsoft Office.
• Strong communication, organization, leadership, and problem-solving skills.
• Ability to work independently and manage competing priorities.
• Post-secondary education in Business, Logistics, or Supply Chain Management is preferred; equivalent experience will be considered.
