# NOW HIRING: STRUCTURAL STEEL FITTER 1ST SHIFT

**Location:** Lexington, SC

Pay: $26.00+ per hour (Based on Experience)

### Job Summary

Express Employment Professionals is seeking an experienced Structural Steel Fitter for a full-time opportunity in Lexington, SC. This position is responsible for reading and interpreting blueprints, measuring and fitting structural steel components, and performing MIG tack welding to prepare beams, columns, and plates for final welding. The ideal candidate will have experience in structural steel fabrication, strong measurement skills, and the ability to work safely in a fast-paced industrial environment.

**Schedule:** Monday-Friday | 7:00 AM-3:30 PM

### Key Responsibilities:

- Read and interpret blueprints, technical drawings, and fabrication specifications.
- Measure, align, and secure steel plates to large beams and columns.
- Perform grinding, cleaning, and surface preparation of structural steel components.
- Perform MIG tack welding to secure components before final welding.
- Fit and assemble structural steel components according to project specifications.
- Assist with positioning and moving large steel beams and columns using overhead cranes.
- Inspect fitted components for proper alignment, measurements, and accuracy.
- Use measuring tools, grinders, cutters, and other fabrication equipment.
- Prepare completed assemblies for transfer to welders for final welding.
- Follow all workplace safety procedures and production standards.

### Qualifications:

- Previous structural steel fitting or fabrication experience required.
- Experience with MIG tack welding and structural steel assembly.
- Ability to read and interpret blueprints and fabrication drawings.
- Strong knowledge of measurements, layout, and steel fitting techniques.
- Experience working with large structural steel beams, columns, and plates.
- Familiarity with overhead crane operations and material handling.
- Ability to operate grinders, cutters, and other fabrication tools.
- Strong mechanical aptitude and attention to detail.
- Ability to work independently and as part of a team.
- Must have personal welding helmet, welding gloves, and basic hand tools, including a tape measure.
- Must wear steel-toe footwear and appropriate work clothing.

- Strict attendance and punctuality expectations.
- Employees must be at their assigned workstations and ready to begin work at the scheduled start time.
- Strict no-cell-phone-use policy during working hours.
- No sweatpants or joggers permitted. Jeans or work pants and T-shirts are acceptable.
