Job Summary

Express Employment Professionals is seeking an experienced MIG Welder for a full-time opportunity in a structural steel fabrication environment. This position is responsible for performing finish welding on structural steel beams, columns, and components after initial fitting and tack welding have been completed. The ideal candidate will have experience with MIG welding, strong attention to detail, and the ability to maintain quality and productivity standards in a fast-paced manufacturing environment.

Schedule: Monday-Friday | 7:00 AM-3:30 PM

Key Responsibilities:

-Perform MIG finish welding on structural steel beams, columns, and fabricated components.

-Weld A36 and 550-grade steel according to established production and quality standards.

-Complete final welds on structural steel assemblies prepared by fitters.

-Inspect welds for proper penetration, consistency, and overall quality.

-Clean, grind, and prepare weld areas as needed.

-Operate welding equipment, grinders, cutters, and other fabrication tools.

-Identify and correct welding defects to ensure quality standards are met.

-Maintain production efficiency while meeting daily piece-count and tonnage expectations.

-Perform routine equipment inspections and basic maintenance.

-Follow all workplace safety procedures and maintain a clean, organized work area.

Qualifications:

-Previous MIG welding experience required.

-Experience welding structural steel in a fabrication or manufacturing environment preferred.

-Familiarity with A36 and 550-grade steel preferred.

-Ability to perform consistent, high-quality finish welds.

-Knowledge of welding techniques, equipment operation, and safety procedures.

-Ability to use grinders, cutters, and basic measuring tools.

-Strong attention to detail and commitment to quality.

-Ability to stand for extended periods and perform physically demanding tasks.

-Ability to work independently and as part of a team.

-Blueprint reading is not required.

-Must provide personal welding helmet, welding gloves, and basic hand tools, including a tape measure.

Additional Requirements:

-Must comply with pre-employment background screening and drug testing requirements.

-Steel-toe footwear and appropriate work clothing required.

-Jeans or work pants and T-shirts are acceptable. No sweatpants or joggers permitted.

-Strict attendance and punctuality expectations.

-Employees must be at their assigned workstations and ready to begin work at the scheduled start time.

-Strict no-cell-phone-use policy during working hours.
