We are seeking an organized and detail-oriented Production Planner / Materials Coordinator to join our manufacturing team. This position is responsible for coordinating the flow of materials and production activities between departments to ensure production schedules are met and materials are delivered on time.

The ideal candidate will have experience in manufacturing, inventory management, purchasing, and production scheduling, along with strong computer skills and the ability to work efficiently in a fast-paced environment.

Key Responsibilities

• Coordinate and monitor the flow of materials and work orders between departments to support production schedules.

• Review and distribute work orders, production schedules, and shipping schedules.

• Communicate with department supervisors to track production progress and ensure deadlines are met.

• Order materials and coordinate deliveries to maintain production schedules and prevent delays.

• Monitor supplier delivery performance and assist with resolving material shortages or delivery issues.

• Prepare reports on production progress, inventory levels, costs, and operational concerns.

• Assist with purchasing materials, supplies, and services as needed.

• Provide backup support to the Senior Buyer/Planner.

• Monitor and maintain inventory accuracy for raw materials, work-in-progress, and finished goods.

• Investigate inventory discrepancies and implement corrective actions.

• Ensure inventory transactions and production data are entered accurately and promptly.

• Track production schedule attainment and identify potential scheduling issues.

• Reconcile work orders and ensure completed production jobs are properly recorded and closed.

• Maintain accurate records using SAP or other inventory and production management systems.

• Work closely with purchasing, production, shipping, and warehouse teams to improve material flow and operational efficiency.

• Follow company safety, quality, and housekeeping procedures.

• Maintain compliance with applicable ISO 9001 and automotive manufacturing quality standards.

Qualifications

• High school diploma or GED required.

• Additional education in supply chain management, business, manufacturing, or a related field preferred.

• Minimum of 3 years of experience in production planning, material coordination, purchasing, inventory management, or a related manufacturing role.

• Strong computer skills, including experience with SAP or similar ERP systems.

• Previous experience in automotive manufacturing or a fast-paced production environment preferred.

• Knowledge of production scheduling, material requirements, and inventory control.

• Familiarity with the steel industry or metal fabrication processes preferred.

• Experience coordinating material deliveries and working with suppliers.

• Strong data entry skills with a high level of accuracy and attention to detail.

• Ability to investigate inventory discrepancies and resolve problems independently.

• Excellent organizational, communication, and time management skills.

• Ability to prioritize multiple tasks and meet deadlines in a high-pressure environment.

• Strong problem-solving skills and the ability to make independent decisions.

• Customer service or supplier coordination experience is a plus.
