Wrapper / Packaging Associate
Location: Monroe, NC
Pay: $16.50/hour
Schedule: Monday-Friday, 7:00 AM - 5:30 PM (approximately 50 hours per week)
Overtime: Saturday overtime available as needed
Position Type: Full-Time, Temporary Assignment Through the End of the Year with Potential for Long-Term Placement
Language Skills: Bilingual Spanish Preferred
Job Summary
We are looking for a dependable Wrapper / Packaging Associate to join our team in Monroe. This position is expected to continue through the end of the year, with the possibility of long-term employment based on performance and business needs.
In this role, you will be responsible for preparing products for shipment by inspecting, packaging, labeling, and organizing orders. The ideal candidate is detail-oriented, safety-focused, and able to work efficiently in a fast-paced production environment.
Key Responsibilities
- Verify product quantities against work orders before packaging.
- Inspect products for visible damage, defects, or missing items before shipment.
- Check product sizes and materials against order specifications.
- Package products using cardboard, bubble wrap, protective film, foam, corner protectors, and strapping equipment.
- Label packages accurately to ensure correct delivery.
- Report shortages, missing items, or order discrepancies to a supervisor.
- Complete required paperwork and production documentation.
- Stack completed packages onto pallets for shipment.
- Move pallets and materials using a manual pallet jack or cart.
- Sort packages by shipping method and color-coded delivery systems.
- Keep the work area clean, organized, and safe.
- Follow all workplace safety procedures and company policies.
- Perform other duties as assigned.
Qualifications
- High school diploma or GED preferred.
- Previous packaging, warehouse, shipping, or production experience is a plus.
- Ability to read and write basic English.
- Ability to use a tape measure accurately.
- Comfortable using pallet jacks, utility knives, scanners, and packaging equipment.
- Basic computer skills, including using a keyboard and scanner.
- Ability to follow written and verbal instructions.
- Bilingual Spanish and English is strongly preferred.
- Strong attention to detail and organizational skills.
Physical Requirements
- Ability to stand and walk for extended periods throughout the shift.
- Frequent lifting, carrying, pushing, and pulling of materials.
- Ability to lift up to 50 pounds regularly and occasionally more when required.
- Frequent reaching, bending, twisting, and repetitive hand movements.
- Ability to safely move products and pallets throughout the work area.
Work Environment
- On-site position.
- Exposure to noise, dust, temperature changes, and other production-related conditions.
- Regular use of packaging tools and equipment, including pallet jacks, strapping machines, scanners, utility knives, and computers.
- Fast-paced environment focused on quality, accuracy, and meeting shipping deadlines.
