Position Overview

Express Employment Professionals is currently recruiting for a Medical Collections Specialist for a medical office in Fort Myers. This is an excellent opportunity with long-term potential for a detail-oriented professional with medical collections experience. The ideal candidate will communicate with insurance carriers and governmental entities to ensure timely reimbursement and maximum payment while providing exceptional customer service to patients.

Essential Duties & Responsibilities

• Work and manage insurance aging reports
• Contact insurance companies regarding outstanding claims and balances
• Research claim issues, submit re-filings, and follow through on payment resolution
• Communicate with insurance carriers to determine reasons for payment delays
• Assist patients by answering questions regarding account balances
• Prepare and submit insurance appeals as needed
• Post appropriate contractual adjustments and non-payments from insurance companies
• Document all communications with patients and insurance representatives
• Sort, scan, and file correspondence and supporting documentation
• Maintain accurate and organized billing records

Qualifications

• 3-5 years of previous medical collections experience required
• Strong understanding of insurance follow-up and claims resolution
• Experience communicating with insurance companies regarding denied and unpaid claims
• Excellent customer service and communication skills
• Strong organizational skills and attention to detail
• Ability to work independently and prioritize workload effectively
• Intergy medical billing software experience is highly preferred
