KNOWLEDGE AND EXPERIENCE REQUIRED

 

Education and Experience: High School Diploma or GED preferred. Previous manufacturing, production, assembly, or material handling experience preferred. Experience in chemical processing, pyrotechnics, explosives manufacturing, ammunition production, or other regulated manufacturing environments is preferred but not required.

Special Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities: Ability to follow written and verbal instructions, accurately measure and record material quantities, perform basic mathematical calculations, safely handle raw materials and production mixtures, maintain production documentation, and recognize abnormal conditions or process deviations. Strong attention to detail and commitment to safety required.

PHYSICAL REQUIREMENTS

Employees may regularly be required to walk, stand, sit, bend, reach, stretch, kneel, stoop, grip and handle containers and raw materials, perform repetitive hand movements, distinguish colors and material conditions, use near and distance vision, hear verbal instructions and alarms, lift and carry up to 50 pounds, and wear required PPE for extended periods.

WORK ENVIRONMENT

Work is performed in a manufacturing environment and may include exposure to moving mechanical equipment, mixing and processing equipment, airborne particles, industrial chemicals, pyrotechnic compositions, energetic materials, ammunition components, and explosive manufacturing operations. Employees must comply with all safety, security, explosive safety, and PPE requirements.

 

 

JOB SUMMARY

The Mix Operator is responsible for safely preparing, weighing, blending, and processing pyrotechnic compositions, energetic materials, and production mixtures in accordance with approved work instructions, formulas, specifications, and production schedules. This position supports manufacturing operations by ensuring materials are accurately measured, properly mixed, and documented while maintaining compliance with quality, safety, and production requirements.

• Follow all work instructions, formulas, batch records, and supervisor direction.
• Accurately weigh and measure raw materials.
• Prepare and mix materials according to approved procedures and specifications.
• Monitor mixing operations and report abnormal conditions.
• Record material usage, lot numbers, and production data accurately.
• Maintain proper identification and traceability of raw materials and mixed products.
• Maintain a clean, organized, and safe work area.
• Follow all company safety policies and explosive safety requirements.
• Identify and report unsafe conditions, equipment issues, or product concerns.

ESSENTIAL RESPONSIBILITIES

Responsibility	Description
Material Preparation	Gather, verify, stage, and prepare raw materials required for production activities.
Mixing Operations	Weigh, measure, blend, and process pyrotechnic compositions and production mixtures in accordance with approved formulas and work instructions.
Batch Documentation	Accurately record material quantities, lot numbers, process data, and production records.
Equipment Operation	Operate mixing, dispensing, and material handling equipment as authorized and trained.
Material Traceability	Maintain proper identification and traceability of raw materials, work-in-process inventory, and finished mixtures.
Quality Support	Follow quality requirements and report discrepancies, contamination concerns, or process deviations.
Safety and Compliance	Comply with safety policies, explosive safety requirements, PPE requirements, and operational controls.
Housekeeping	Maintain cleanliness and organization of mixing equipment, workstations, and production areas.
