Metal Fabricator / Welder

Location: Grafton, ND
Pay: $20.00–$25.00 per hour, depending on experience
Schedule: Day shift; potential four-day workweek available

Express Employment Professionals is seeking an experienced Metal Fabricator / Welder for a fabrication and manufacturing opportunity in Grafton! This role involves reading fabrication drawings, preparing materials, fitting components, and welding quality finished assemblies.

Job Responsibilities:

• Read and interpret fabrication drawings, weld symbols, and cutting lists to determine material needs and job sequence.

• Lay out and mark cutting lines on plate, tubing, angle, and structural materials using measuring and layout tools.

• Cut materials using plasma cutters, band saws, angle grinders, and oxyfuel torches.

• Fit and tack weld components, checking dimensions and squareness before final welding.

• Weld assemblies using MIG, TIG, stick, or flux-core processes as appropriate for the material and joint design.

• Grind, dress, and finish welds to meet appearance, dimensional, and coating-preparation requirements.

• Inspect completed work for dimensional accuracy, weld quality, and appearance.

• Set up and operate press brakes, angle rolls, and tube benders.

• Communicate with estimators and engineers to identify potential fabrication challenges.

• Maintain welding equipment, monitor consumable supplies, and report equipment issues.

Qualifications:

• Relevant welding, metal fabrication, or manufacturing experience.

• Ability to read fabrication drawings, weld symbols, and cutting lists.

• Experience using welding equipment, cutting tools, and fabrication machinery.

• Strong attention to detail and commitment to quality workmanship.

• Ability to plan work, verify measurements, and communicate effectively with a team.

Work Schedule:

The current schedule is Monday–Thursday, 6:00 AM–4:30 PM, and Friday, 6:00 AM–3:00 PM. A Monday–Thursday schedule consisting of four 10-hour shifts with Fridays off may be available for Express associates. Final schedule will be confirmed during the hiring process.
