Express Employment Professionals, a full-service staffing agency, is currently hiring for a Shipping & Receiving Associate for a local client in Baton Rouge, LA. This client is seeking a dependable, safety-conscious candidate with experience in warehouse operations, shipping logistics, inventory control, and material handling.

Essential Duties and Responsibilities

• Load and unload materials from delivery trucks safely and efficiently.
• Prepare items for shipment according to customer specifications and delivery deadlines.
• Record material heat numbers and quantities on packing lists.
• Prepare material certifications and shipping documentation.
• Count, weigh, and measure materials before shipment.
• Coordinate with carriers to schedule shipment pickups.
• Verify carrier identification and obtain signatures on bills of lading.
• Assemble cardboard, wooden, and composite shipping containers.
• Label, mark, stencil, and identify packages for shipment.
• Attach packing lists, shipping labels, and required shipping documents.
• Operate material handling equipment (MHE) and overhead cranes to move materials throughout the facility.
• Maintain a clean, organized, and safe work environment.

Experience and Education Needed

• High School Diploma or GED required.
• Basic math and measurement skills.
• Strong work ethic and self-motivated attitude.
• Excellent written and verbal communication skills.
• Strong organizational, problem-solving, and time-management skills.
• Ability to effectively multitask in a fast-paced environment.
• Ability to work independently and as part of a team.
• Commitment to maintaining positive relationships with customers, suppliers, and coworkers.

Physical Demands

• Frequent use of hands and fingers to handle materials and equipment.
• Frequent reaching, bending, climbing, kneeling, crawling, twisting, and balancing.
• Frequent speaking and hearing.
• Ability to lift up to 50 pounds regularly.
• Ability to lift up to 75 pounds occasionally.
• Ability to push and pull 25-50 pounds regularly.
• Must have close vision for reading documents, labels, and product information.

Work Environment

• Industrial warehouse and manufacturing environment.
• Regular operation of forklifts, cranes, and other material handling equipment.
• Exposure to warehouse conditions and varying temperatures.
