Job Title: Material Handler

Shift: 1st I 6:30 AM - 3:00 PM

Schedule: Monday - Friday

Position Summary

Under minimal supervision, the Material Handler is responsible for maintaining the efficient flow of materials and products throughout the manufacturing facility. This role requires continuous interaction with production, planning, inventory management, purchasing, and shipping teams to ensure materials are accurately tracked, handled, and available when needed. The Material Handler also participates in cycle counts, physical inventories, and other activities that support material accuracy and production efficiency.

Key Responsibilities:
- Document damaged freight and assist with the claims process.
- Perform shipping, receiving, material handling, and inventory management tasks with a high level of attention to detail.
- Administer the movement of incoming and outgoing materials throughout the facility.
- Serve as a liaison and expeditor between departments to resolve material-related issues in a timely manner.
- Monitor and track material requests to prioritize and execute movements as needed to support production schedules.
- Maintain adequate inventory of shipping department materials; review shipping schedules and order supplies as needed to prevent stock-outs.
- Maintain accurate rack and bin locations, including proper labeling.
- Participate in cycle counts, identify and analyze discrepancies, and make necessary corrections to maintain accurate inventory records.
- Perform inventory transaction audits and assist with physical inventory activities.
- Safely operate pallet jacks, forklifts, and overhead cranes to move materials and load/unload trailers.
- Adhere to all facility safety and environmental regulations.
- Be available for flexible work hours and overtime as required.
- Perform other duties as assigned by plant management.


Qualifications:
- Minimum of two (2) years of experience in inventory control, materials handling, or warehouse operations preferred.
- High School Diploma or equivalent required.
- Ability to prioritize and manage multiple tasks in a fast-paced environment.
- Proven ability to work independently with minimal supervision.
- Strong initiative and proactive problem-solving skills.
- Adaptability to new and challenging situations.
- Proficiency in operating material handling equipment, including pallet jacks, forklifts, and overhead cranes.
- Ability to load and unload trailers using overhead cranes and other mobile equipment.
- Strong organizational skills and attention to detail.
- Basic computer proficiency; SAP experience preferred.

Working Conditions / Physical Requirements:
- Frequent standing, walking, and lifting of items up to 40 pounds.
- Occasional sitting, balancing, stooping, kneeling, crouching, and overhead work.
- Occasional pushing/pulling of carts and movement of equipment.
- Work performed primarily in a manufacturing environment with exposure to moving machinery and moderate noise levels.
