Express Employment Professionals is hiring on behalf of our client, an established industrial steel fabrication company in Abbotsford, BC. We are looking for an experienced Welder / Fitter / Fabricator to join their team on a full-time, permanent basis.

Position Details

• Job Title: Welder / Fitter / Fabricator
• Location: Abbotsford, BC
• Pay: $28–$38 per hour
• Job Type: Full-time, Permanent
• Work Setting: In person

Key Responsibilities

• Perform welding and fabrication work according to shop drawings, specifications, and quality requirements.
• Read and interpret shop drawings to ensure accurate fabrication and assembly.
• Complete welding in various positions using MCAW, FCAW, and GMAW processes.
• Apply appropriate techniques to minimize welding distortion, including an understanding of preheating and postheating.
• Inspect welded components for quality issues such as porosity, undercut, and excessive spatter.
• Verify measurements and dimensions before and after welding to ensure work meets project requirements.
• Follow specified weld sizes, lengths, and locations as outlined in drawings or instructions.
• Operate shop tools and welding equipment safely and effectively.
• Maintain a clean, organized, and safe work environment.
• Use welding screens and required PPE as needed.
• Communicate questions, concerns, and quality issues to the supervisor.
• Work collaboratively with team members while following workplace safety procedures.

Qualifications and Requirements

• Minimum 5 years of welding experience.
• C-Level or B-Level Welding Certification.
• Ability to obtain and maintain CWB certification.
• Strong experience with MCAW, FCAW, and GMAW welding processes, including out-of-position welding.
• Knowledge of welding distortion and methods to control shrinkage.
• Ability to read and understand shop drawings.
• Strong attention to detail and commitment to producing quality work.
• Ability to work safely and effectively in a team environment.
• Must have the necessary tools to perform the job effectively.
• Ability to lift up to 50 lbs and recognize when assistance is required.
• Willingness to follow all workplace safety requirements and wear appropriate PPE.
