Express Employment Professionals is recruiting for a Part-Time Administrative Assistant to support the Executive Director and Finance Director of a respected local nonprofit organization in La Crosse. This is an excellent opportunity for someone who wants to build their administrative skills while gaining hands-on experience with financial documentation, grant administration, recordkeeping, and nonprofit operations.

A finance degree or extensive accounting experience is not required. Training will be provided. However, because a significant portion of this position involves supporting the Finance Director, the ideal candidate will be comfortable working with financial documents, organizing records, and learning nonprofit financial processes.

This is a great opportunity for an administrative professional who is eager to learn, takes pride in accurate work, and enjoys having a variety of responsibilities.

  • Starting Pay: $18.00 per hour
  • Schedule: Tuesday–Thursday, 8:30 AM–4:30 PM
  • Hours: 24 hours per week
  • Position Type: Part-time, contract-to-hire opportunity
  • Potential for increased hours and full-time employment based on performance and organizational needs
  • Opportunity for future wage increases as responsibilities and hours expand

What You’ll Be Doing

As a Part-Time Administrative Assistant, you will provide administrative and financial support to both the Executive Director and Finance Director. Responsibilities will include:

  • Gather and organize documentation supporting grant expenditures and financial records
  • Pull, organize, and maintain documentation needed for grant compliance
  • Match receipts, invoices, and supporting documentation to expense reports
  • Maintain accurate and organized electronic and paper records
  • Copy, scan, file, and distribute documents
  • Provide general administrative support to the Executive Director and Finance Director
  • Assist with routine correspondence and professional communication with staff, vendors, and community partners
  • Assist with special projects and other administrative tasks as needed
  • Help wherever needed as priorities change throughout the day

No two days will necessarily look the same. This position is a great fit for someone with a “jack-of-all-trades” mindset who is flexible, adaptable, and willing to jump in and help wherever needed.

What We’re Looking For

The ideal candidate will have:

  • Previous administrative assistant, office assistant, receptionist, or clerical experience preferred
  • Working knowledge of Microsoft Word, Excel, Outlook, Teams, and Microsoft Office
  • Strong organizational and time-management skills

  • Professional written and verbal communication skills
  • Comfort working with financial documents and maintaining organized records
  • Ability to work independently and take initiative
  • A willingness to learn new processes and responsibilities
  • Ability to ask questions and seek clarification when needed
  • A dependable, professional, and positive attitude
  • Interest in developing skills related to nonprofit administration and financial support

A finance or accounting degree is not required. This role is well suited for someone who is organized and detail-oriented and wants the opportunity to learn more about financial and grant-related administrative work.

Why This Opportunity?

This position offers more than a part-time administrative job. It provides the opportunity to:

  • Gain hands-on experience with nonprofit administration and financial processes
  • Develop valuable Microsoft Office and administrative skills
  • Learn about grant documentation and compliance
  • Work closely with organizational leadership
  • Take on new responsibilities and grow your skill set
  • Potentially transition into full-time employment
  • Make a meaningful contribution to an organization focused on helping people with disabilities live independently and participate fully in their communities

The organization offers a professional but relaxed and welcoming workplace culture. Employees are trusted to get their work done while maintaining a professional approach, and the environment provides flexibility in how you work.
