Medical Biller & Coder – Occupational Health

Pay: Approximately $22 per hour
Location: Champaign-Urbana, IL
Schedule: M-F 7am-4:30pm

Position Overview

We’re looking for a detail-oriented Medical Biller & Coder to join an occupational health office. This role is ideal for someone with medical billing experience who enjoys keeping records accurate, working with insurance claims, and helping ensure healthcare services are billed correctly and efficiently.

Responsibilities

  • Prepare, review, and submit medical claims accurately and in a timely manner.

  • Assign appropriate medical codes using ICD-10, CPT, and HCPCS as applicable.

  • Verify patient information, insurance coverage, and billing details.

  • Review claims for errors and resolve billing discrepancies or denials.

  • Maintain accurate patient billing records while protecting confidential information.

  • Communicate with insurance companies, patients, and healthcare staff regarding billing questions.

  • Support billing for occupational health services, which may include workplace injuries, employment-related physicals, drug screenings, and other employer-requested services.

Qualifications

  • Previous experience in medical billing and coding preferred.

  • Familiarity with ICD-10 and CPT coding systems.

  • Strong attention to detail and organizational skills.

  • Ability to handle confidential medical and billing information appropriately.

  • Comfortable using computers, electronic medical records, and billing software.

  • Strong communication and problem-solving skills.

Compensation

  • Approximately $22 per hour, depending on experience.
