Now Hiring: Yard Spotter / Yard Jockey (Day Shift)

Schedule: Full-Time, Day Shift (Monday – Friday, daytime hours)

Location Area: Elkhart County, IN

Why You’ll Want This Job

Tired of over-the-road routes, sleeping in truck stops, or being stuck inside standing at an assembly line all day? Step into an independent, fast-paced yard role where your driving precision keeps production moving.

  • Home Every Single Night: Reliable, local day-shift schedule with steady manufacturing hours and open weekends.

  • Top-Tier Pay: Earn $20.00 to $26.00/hour right from the start, with overtime opportunities available during peak production runs.

  • Cab Autonomy: Spend your day behind the wheel maneuvering equipment and coordinating staging without a manager hovering over your shoulder.

  • Active, Engaging Work: Perfect balance of skilled equipment operation and physical yard movement—no mundane bench work or sitting idling in highway traffic.

What You’ll Be Doing

  • Maneuver raw frames, in-process units, and finished trailers (24–53 ft) between assembly, paint/finishing, wash bays, and yard lots.

  • Operate terminal tractors (Ottawa/Kalmar), ball-hitch/pintle tugs, and heavy yard trucks safely and efficiently.

  • Execute tight-quarter backing maneuvers into production bays and loading docks.

  • Stage trailers and outbound inventory accurately using VIN and serial numbers against shipping schedules.

  • Assist delivery carriers with coupling, uncoupling, wheel chocks, and dock stabilizer jacks.

  • Conduct daily pre-trip and post-trip equipment inspections, checking inbound and outbound units for transit security.

What You Bring to the Table

  • Experience: 1–2 years running yard spotters, terminal tractors, heavy tow rigs, or semi-trucks in an industrial, freight, or manufacturing yard.

  • Skills: Proven ability to back 24–53 ft trailers into tight spaces; solid familiarity with 5th-wheel, gooseneck, and pintle hitches.

  • License: Valid driver’s license with a clean, insurable record (Class A CDL is a strong plus).

  • Work Ethic: Reliable, safety-minded, and comfortable working outdoors in seasonal Midwest conditions.
