Job Summary: The CNC Operator is responsible for operating computer numerically controlled (CNC) machinery safely and accurately.  These functions produce parts and tools from different resources including metal and plastic.  The CNC Operator is tasked with monitoring machinery, inspecting finished products, and leading test runs.

 

Essential duties and responsibilities:

• Follow all safety rules and regulations, all work must be done thinking “Safety First”
• Prepare and operate CNC machines to perform tasks such as milling and turning.

• Understand specifications of the task at hand and the desired result by reading blueprints, mechanical drawings etc.
• Translate instructions into computer commands to ensure the machine performs the correct function
• Prepare and load raw materials and parts onto the machine(s)
• Prepare test runs to ensure production of correct specifications
• Set machines to complete full cycles to fabricate large number of parts
• Supervise the machines while they execute the tasks and make necessary adjustments
• Inspect and measure finished products and compare with requirements
• Check and maintain machinery daily to ensure functionality
• Good communication skills

• Prolonged periods of standing while working on the machine
• Able to lift to 40 pounds and 41+ pounds as a two-person lift
• Performs other related duties as assigned

Required Skills/Abilities:

 

• Proven experience as a CNC operator
• Skill in operating CNC machinery and tooling in addition to precision measurement tools
• Ability to read and interpret mechanical documents and drawings
• Good computer skills with basic understanding of computer programming and CAD/CAM
• Strong math skills
• Detail oriented
• Excellent time management skills with a proven ability to meet deadlines
• Ability to function well in a high passed and times stressful environment
• Ability to work independently

 

 

Education and Experience:

 

• High school diploma or equivalent
• Certificate or diploma in engineering or relevant discipline is a plus
• At least two years related experience required
