EVALUATION HIRE
$21-23 / hr.
Day Shift 6 am – 2:30 p.m., Monday- Friday; Saturdays when needed and overtime when needed.
Express Employment Professionals, a full-service staffing agency, is currently hiring for a Flux Core Structural Welder for a local client in East Baton Rouge. This client is a family-owned business with over 35 years of experience providing the highest quality steel to the Gulf Coast region. They are looking for a dedicated team player willing to create value for their customers through their service and products while promoting a positive example of safety and hard work.
CORE RESPONSIBILITIES for Flux Core Welder:
- Safely operate welding equipment, tools, and machinery while following all workplace safety policies and procedures.
- Perform welding on steel components in multiple positions, including flat, horizontal, vertical, and overhead applications.
- Use electric arc and gas welding processes to join, repair, and fabricate metal structures and components.
- Inspect equipment, materials, and completed work to identify defects or operational issues, reporting concerns to supervisors as needed.
- Fit, align, tack weld, clamp, bolt, grind, and heat-bend metal parts to meet project specifications and quality standards.
- Operate a variety of welding systems and equipment, including Gas Tungsten Arc Welding (GTAW/TIG), Shielded Metal Arc Welding (SMAW), Flux-Cored Arc Welding (FCAW), Plasma Arc Welding, and Gas Metal Arc Welding (GMAW/MIG).
- Monitor welding and fabrication processes to prevent distortion, warping, expansion, shrinkage, and other material-related issues.
- Inspect finished welds and fabricated components to ensure compliance with drawings, specifications, and quality requirements.
- Set up and prepare welding equipment, tools, fixtures, and materials required to complete assigned projects efficiently and safely.
- Measure, position, and arrange welded components using precision tools such as tape measures, squares, calipers, and rulers to ensure proper fit and alignment during assembly.
- Maintain a clean and organized work area while supporting production goals and quality standards.
- Collaborate with supervisors, engineers, and fellow team members to complete projects accurately, safely, and on schedule.
SKILLS AND EXPERIENCE REQUIRED:
- Welding structural steel experience
- Must be 21 and able to complete Welding test provided by the client
- Standing and sitting for extended periods of time throughout the day
- Occasional lifting, bending, stooping, kneeling, crouching, and reaching
- Exposure to varying environments, including loud, hot, and smoke-filled areas
- Must be able to pass a weld test.
