Located in Eureka, CA
Salary: $22.00 or more DOE
Express Employment Professionals is seeking a skilled Carpenter. This position supports the reconstruction team by completing carpentry work and restoring properties.
The ideal candidate has hands-on carpentry experience, takes pride in quality workmanship, follows safety procedures, communicates professionally, and works well independently and as part of a team.
Key Responsibilities
- Perform carpentry work necessary to restore damaged residential and commercial properties.
- Complete construction and repair assignments according to project instructions, plans, and specifications.
- Maintain organized and clean work areas, tools, equipment, vehicles, and warehouse spaces.
- Read and interpret sketches, drawings, plans, and blueprints.
- Assist with inventory management and ordering construction materials.
- Monitor work quality, report project progress, and communicate potential obstacles and solutions to the team lead.
- Use company time, labor, materials, and equipment responsibly.
- Follow applicable job-site safety procedures and use required personal protective equipment (PPE).
- Communicate professionally with customers, coworkers, and supervisors.
- Maintain a safe, respectful, and professional work environment.
- Attend company meetings and assist other departments as needed.
Qualifications
- High school diploma or equivalent, or a combination of training and experience that provides the required knowledge and skills.
- Working knowledge of carpentry tools, materials, equipment, construction methods, and building repairs.
- Ability to perform construction, maintenance, alteration, and repair work.
- Ability to read and interpret blueprints, drawings, and project plans.
- General knowledge of related building trades, building codes, safety regulations, and construction practices.
- Strong attention to detail, problem-solving skills, and a commitment to quality workmanship.
- Ability to work independently, follow instructions, accept feedback, and collaborate with a team.
- Ability to operate a motor vehicle for work-related duties.
Physical Requirements and Work Environment
- Ability to lift, carry, push, and pull materials weighing up to 50 pounds, with or without reasonable accommodation.
- Ability to bend, stoop, kneel, reach, climb, and perform physical carpentry tasks.
- Ability to safely climb ladders and work at heights using scaffolds and lifts.
- Work may involve moderate to high noise levels, chemical odors, confined spaces, and exposure to hazardous materials or conditions associated with restoration work.
- Must follow applicable safety procedures and wear required PPE, which may include hard hats, safety glasses, work boots, respirators, gloves, and protective suits.
