Material Handler - 1st shift

Location: Waterloo, IA
Pay: $16.00/hour
Schedule: Monday-Friday, 6:00 AM-2:30 PM

Position Overview

Express Employment Professionals in Waterloo is seeking a Material Handler to join a local warehouse team. This position is responsible for loading and unloading materials, building pallets for shipment, maintaining inventory counts using handheld scanners, and operating a forklift to move products throughout the warehouse. The ideal candidate will have prior forklift experience, be comfortable performing physical labor, and have a strong focus on safety and accuracy.

Key Responsibilities:

• Move 50-pound bags by hand onto pallets
• Build and prepare pallets for outbound shipments
• Receive and organize inbound materials and products
• Use handheld scanners to maintain accurate inventory counts
• Transport pallets and materials using a forklift
• Move products to shipping and receiving docks
• Ensure materials are properly staged for shipment
• Maintain a clean and organized work area
• Follow all warehouse safety procedures

Qualifications:

• 6 months to 1 year of forklift experience required
• Previous warehouse or material handling experience preferred
• Experience using handheld scanners is a plus
• Strong attention to detail and inventory accuracy
• Ability to work independently and as part of a team
• Dependable with strong attendance and reliability
• Safety-conscious and able to work efficiently in a warehouse environment

Physical Requirements:

• Ability to lift up to 50 pounds regularly
• Full range of motion for lifting, carrying, and moving materials
• Strong back for loading and building pallets
• Good knee mobility for bending, squatting, and lifting
• Good eyesight and hearing
• Ability to stand, walk, bend, twist, and lift throughout the shift
• Comfortable performing physical labor in a warehouse setting
