Position Summary

We are seeking a meticulous and highly skilled QC Inspector to join our fast-paced Aerospace & Defense precision CNC machine shop. In this role, you will serve as the primary line of defense in ensuring that high-precision machined parts and assemblies comply with strict engineering drawings, customer specifications, and strict regulatory standards.

The ideal candidate will have extensive hands-on experience in a precision-machining environment, an expert understanding of Geometric Dimensioning and Tolerancing (GD&T), and the ability to operate standard metrology tools and advanced inspection equipment.

Key Responsibilities

  • Dimensional & Visual Inspection: Perform thorough Receiving, In-Process (First Article per AS9102), and Final inspections on complex machined parts, sub-assemblies, and raw materials
  • Precision Metrology: Utilize mechanical hand tools including digital micrometers, calipers, depth gauges, pin/plug gauges, dial indicators, bore gauges, and optical comparators
  • Blueprint & GD&T Interpretation: Read and flawlessly interpret complex engineering blueprints, 2D drawings, 3D CAD models, manufacturing routers, and customer purchase orders to calculate exact manufacturing tolerances
  • Non-Conformance Control: Identify, segregate, and tag non-conforming hardware. Generate detailed Non-Conformance Reports (NCRs) within our ERP/MRP system and assist manufacturing teams in root-cause analysis and corrective actions
  • Traceability & Compliance Documentation: Verify and maintain strict compliance with material certifications, processing logs, and manufacturing travelers to enforce 100% data traceability required under AS9100 / ISO 9001 guidelines
  • Calibration Standards: Check and monitor the calibration status of shop floor inspection tools before use to ensure ongoing data accuracy

Required Qualifications & Skills

  • Experience: Minimum 2–5+ years of quality inspection experience explicitly inside an aerospace, military defense, or ultra-precision CNC manufacturing setting
  • GD&T Expertise: Robust, practical understanding of Geometric Dimensioning and Tolerancing (GD&T) principles per ASME Y14.5
  • Quality Management Standards: Strong operational knowledge of AS9100 / ISO 9001 aerospace quality tracking standards
  • Math Skills: Proficient in fundamental shop mathematics, including basic geometry and trigonometry to verify machine angles
  • Regulatory & Security Compliance: Due to defense contracts, candidates must meet export control criteria and be "U.S. Persons" as defined by ITAR regulations (U.S. Citizen or Lawful Permanent Resident)
  • Physical Demands: Must be able to lift up to 35 lbs, stand for extended intervals on a production shop floor, and pass routine vision/color-blindness screening if mandatory for specialized client workflows

Preferred Skills & Certifications

  • Active certification from the American Society for Quality (ASQ), such as a Certified Quality Inspector (CQI)
  • Hands-on CMM Programming experience utilizing PC-DMIS software
  • Experience documenting First Article Inspection Reports (FAIR) via digital management platforms such as Net-Inspect
  • Familiarity working within an Aerospace ERP/MRP system environment (e.g., ProShop or JobBoss)
