We are seeking a Skilled Yard Labour specializing in Heavy Metal Pipes and Hoisting to join our dynamic construction and industrial operations team. This role involves handling heavy metal piping materials, operating hoisting equipment, and supporting various site activities to ensure efficient project progress. The ideal candidate will possess construction experience, mechanical knowledge, and excellent communication skills to facilitate safe and effective operations. Pay: $25/hour + 4% vacation pay

Shift: 7:00am - 4:30pm ( Monday - Friday)

Employment Type: Short-term contract

• Contract Period: Approximately 6–8 weeks

Responsibilities

• Assist with hoisting, lifting, and moving heavy metal pipes and other steel materials using appropriate lifting equipment.
• Perform heavy manual lifting, carrying, positioning, stacking, and organizing of materials within the yard.
• Assist crane, forklift, and other heavy equipment operators during loading, unloading, and material-handling operations.
• Help attach and secure loads using slings, chains, hooks, and other approved lifting accessories, where trained and authorized.
• Guide loads during hoisting operations and help ensure materials are positioned correctly and safely.
• Work outdoors in various weather conditions, including heat, cold, rain, and wind.
• Inspect materials and work areas for visible damage, hazards, and unsafe conditions.
• Maintain a clean, organized, and hazard-free yard and storage area.
• Follow workplace health and safety procedures, including proper lifting techniques and the use of personal protective equipment (PPE).
• Work as part of a team to complete daily yard operations efficiently and safely.
• Perform other general labour and material-handling duties as assigned.

Experience

• Proven construction experience working with heavy metal pipes or similar materials in a yard or industrial setting.
• Knowledge of safety protocols related to hoisting, rigging, and material handling.
• Mechanical aptitude with the ability to identify basic equipment issues.
• Strong communication skills; bilingual or multilingual abilities are considered an asset for effective teamwork.
• Familiarity with construction site procedures and safety regulations.
• Ability to work physically demanding shifts while maintaining attention to detail.

Physical Requirements:

• Ability to perform frequent heavy lifting, pushing, pulling, bending, reaching, and standing for extended periods.
• Ability to work outdoors for extended shifts in varying weather conditions.
• Ability to safely handle heavy, bulky, and awkward materials while following established safety procedures.
• Ability to work around cranes, forklifts, trucks, and other industrial equipment.

Work Environment:

• Outdoor industrial yard involving heavy metal pipes, steel materials, hoisting operations, material handling, and exposure to changing weather conditions, noise, dust, and other typical yard hazards
