Job Summary

The Forklift Operator is responsible for safely operating a forklift to move, stage, organize, and deliver materials and components to the Kitting Department and production areas at a local manufacturer. This position helps maintain accurate inventory, ensures materials are available when needed, and supports efficient production operations while following all company safety procedures.

Key Responsibilities

1. Material Handling: Operate a forklift to transport raw materials, parts, pallets, and supplies to designated kitting and production locations in a timely manner.

2. Kitting Support: Pick, stage, and deliver the correct materials according to work orders, verifying part numbers, quantities, and material locations to prevent errors and production delays.

3. Safety and Equipment Inspections: Perform pre-shift forklift inspections, follow established safety procedures, maintain clear aisles, and report equipment issues or unsafe conditions.

4. Maintain organized material storage areas and ensure materials are properly placed and identified.

5. Communicate with team members, supervisors, and production personnel regarding material needs and shortages.

6. Follow inventory control procedures and accurately document material movements as required.

7. Prevent damage to materials, equipment, and facility property while handling and transporting loads.

8. Maintain consistent productivity and follow workplace policies and procedures.

Expected Results

• Materials and components are delivered accurately and on time to support production schedules.

• Inventory records and material locations remain accurate.

• Forklift operations are performed safely, with minimal material damage and no preventable accidents.

• The kitting department remains organized, efficient, and supplied with the materials needed for daily operations.

Qualifications

• Previous forklift or warehouse experience preferred.

• Ability to safely operate a forklift; valid certification or employer-required training as applicable.

• Ability to read labels, identify part numbers, and follow work orders and instructions.

• Strong attention to detail and commitment to workplace safety.

• Ability to work independently and as part of a team.

• Ability to meet the physical requirements of the position, including standing, walking, and handling materials as required.

Work Environment

This position is performed in an industrial or manufacturing environment and requires regular forklift operation, material movement, and coordination with warehouse and production teams.

Employment Arrangement

The employee is hired or assigned through Express Employment Professionals to perform material-handling duties. Employment terms, work schedule, pay, training requirements, and assignment conditions are determined by the applicable Express Employment Professionals office and assignment agreement.
